I use Quicken for general reporting and for tax preparation. With the software I’m able to import all my bank transactions safely and automatically, including those from loan, investment & retirement accounts. No need to jot it all down or save receipts. It also has a really good Federal tax estimation module.

The one issue I’ve found is that Quicken has an issue importing PNC virtual wallet accounts.

YNAB is used for monthly budget tracking. Once I have my budget worked out, I copy it over to YNAB and then use the software to track my budget through out the month. I can connect it to my banks and import my transactions into YNAB and categorize them. Using YNAB also allows me to make changes to my monthly budget if an emergency should arise.

This software is used to calculate my net-worth. Knowing your net-worth is very important to track. Tracking your net-worth will allow you to make better financial decisions by allowing you to see whether that decision will increase or decrease your net-worth. I try to update my net-worth on a monthly basis.

Price: Free to use though you can not print, 29.95 if you want to print
